How I can help

Help with anxiety

With Ali Anderson, BACP-accredited counsellor. In person in Skelmorlie or online across the UK and beyond.

Anxiety has a way of taking up more and more room. It might be a constant background hum of worry, a tight chest before you've even got out of bed, a mind that won't stop running through everything that could go wrong. Some people find it hits in waves as panic. Others just find themselves quietly avoiding more and more things.

Whatever shape it takes for you, it's exhausting, and it tends to shrink your life a little at a time.

There's a lot that can be done. Depending on what suits you, we might work through where it comes from and what keeps it going, look at practical ways to settle your body and your thinking, or use clinical hypnotherapy to ease the patterns underneath it. I'm trained in a range of approaches, so we can find the one that fits you rather than the other way round.

If coming to a room feels like too much right now, we can work online. And if walking in feels daunting, Buster, my little therapy dog, is very good at taking the edge off.

Common questions about anxiety

Do I need to be diagnosed with anything?

No. You don't need a diagnosis or a label to come to counselling.

Can we do this online?

Yes, and it works well. Plenty of people find it easier from their own front room.

How long will it take?

That depends on you and what's going on. We'll talk about it in your free 15-minute chat.
